First major literary work of feminism - Mary Wollstonecraft's A Vinication of the Rights of Women - a response to Tom Paine's The Rights of Man. Wollstonecraft was married to the anarchist thinker William Gowin and mother to Mary, who married the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley and wrote Frankenstein.

Tom Paine's The Rights of Man was a pamphlet celebrating possibility of liberty in revolutionary France, though quickly became disillusioned and fled to the USA.
